Skin Yeast Infections

When you are told that you have a skin yeast infection, a form of thrush on the skin, it can be a worrying time. Skin yeast infections can appear under the arms, thighs, fatty folds, groin, skin creases, finger nails and toe nails. A yeast infection can strike almost anywhere on the skin and cause alarm for the sufferer. The tell tell sign that you have one is seeing a babies nappy rash type rash appear.

Although thrush or a yeast skin infection is not necessarily associated with poor hygiene, it could be a contributing factor. Also tight clothing, warm weather and medication can cause an outbreak of skin thrush.

It should be noted that if you have any kind of outbreak of a yeast infection, it can be passed on to other people through direct contact. This is even more likely to be passed on if you have thrush in the genital region, so intercourse should be avoided until the outbreak has been cleared up.

When you do get a yeast infection on the skin, it may not be noticeable to anyone as you will be able to keep it well hidden under clothing, for others though, it could be in a place that you cannot cover up. Although you might feel a little embarrassed by it, you should certainly not feel ashamed – millions of people each year are suffering the same condition. At the end of the day you only have a skin infection.

Using a thrush treatment and ensuring that you keep the affected area clean and dry will normally mean that the infection will quickly clear up.
