When you think you have thrush or a yeast infection, you simply want to confirm it so that you can treat it and move on. Confirming the symptoms of thrush or a yeast infection become second nature to those who suffer with it a lot – you know the signs and can almost immediately pick up any symptoms as soon as they start.
For those of you who have never had a yeast infection, it can be a little trickier to find the symptoms. A yeast infection is commonly known as thrush and the medical term is sometimes referred to as candidiasis. All of them mean the same thing – yeast infection.

- Areas that are affected by the symptoms of thrush will be very itchy. This can be a horrible experience if you have virginal thrush or thrush in the mouth. The irritation can become unbearable for some people with this symptom. The more you attempt to relieve the itching, the worse it will become and the affected area will soon become red and sore causing more symptoms to appear.
- When you have symptoms of a yeast infection on the genitalia or digestive system, these affected areas will have a whitish discharge coming from them. Those suffering from virginal thrush will sometimes notice the discharge inside their underwear. For those who have thrush in the mouth, your tongue will normally be coated in white areas or small spots. Both areas are known to produce a smell like bread or beer.
- Oral yeast infections can become painful fast. The mouth may become dry and have an unpleasant taste in it. The tongue can start to crack and small fishers may appear at the sides of the mouth. Oral thrush can be a very nasty experience and cause problems with swallowing.
- Virginal thrush in women may cause them to need the toilet much more regularly than normal and if they are menstruating the cramps may feel more painful.

- Candidiasis of the eyes is also a form of thrush and needs to be looked at treated very quickly as this can cause major irritation and swelling to the eye and conjunctivae.
- In respiratory candidiasis (yeast infections) there is wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath that goes with it. Again, if you suspect that you have respiratory candidiasis you should seek medical advice as soon as possible.
All of these symptoms are associated with a yeast infection and cause the sufferer problems, the thing to keep in mind is that some people can have more than one symptom whereas others may experience no symptoms at all. Each person has a different reaction to an illness than the next and what symptoms one may experience the others may not.
