Preventing Yeast Infections – Vaginal Infection
When you are prone to yeast infections (or thrush) you will want to find out all you can about ways to prevent them happening. Below you will find some great ideas to help you prevent a yeast infection from starting. Will over 75% of the female population suffering from virginal yeast infections, they quickly realise that these infections are irritating and painful when they strike. Now you are going to be armed with enough information to stop the yeast infections before they begin.
It’s now widely accepted in the medical world that tight clothing worn around the genital area will encourage sweating – this in turn will encourage the growth of fungus and bacteria. It’s bacteria that grows unchecked that causes yeast infections.
Avoiding these tight fitting clothing will help you to prevent yeast infections. Try to avoid wearing pants that are not made from cotton, cotton pants are much friendlier on the skin and will allow it to breath. Tights are another contributor to yeast infections as they enclose the area with tight clothing also.
At bedtime, consider removing your pants in order to let the vagina dry which will discourage the growth of yeast. If you do feel that you need to wear clothing in bed, consider a loose fitting pajama set instead.
Consider which toilet paper you are using. Something as simple as a perfumed brand or one with a pattern on it, one that tares or shreds will all contribute to preventing a yeast infection. Avoiding any lubricants, gels or powders in the genital area will also help you to avoid further infections.
Staying in wet clothing will also encourage the growth of the yeast hormone. If you go swimming, shower, dry properly and change your clothing straight away rather than sitting around the pool in a wet suit.
Although it might be tempting to wash your vagina regularly throughout the day in an attempt to prevent yeast infections, this will actually do the complete opposite. The vagina has a protective mucus which helps to keep it clean and healthy. Excessive washing will remove this and leave you prone to even more yeast infections.
